Tales and legends

The rich oral tradition of Orxeta, which contains tales and legends, reveals aspects of the traditional ways of life and the most deep rooted local customs. The tradition of story telling has not only been lost in the local region but also in the whole of Spain. Here we intend to create a written record of an important part of Orxeta’s collective memory at a time when the social function in which this story telling takes place has been replaced by changes in the way we live our lives. This is due to advances in technology and especially the development of modern audiovisual systems of communication.
