The Roman Period

With respect to Roman times, there are reports of findings of pottery of this period, in addition to the remains found in archaeological made in-town.

The existence of the settlement late in the margin of the River Sella must be related to changes at the end of the Romans in the Iberian Peninsula, and especially important with the evolution of core set in the present Roman town of Vila Joiosa , from mid-first century BC, which won the category of Municipium dne in 74 years under the reign of Emperor Vespasian.
