The Marina Baixa Regional Study Centre

The Marina Baixa Regional Study Centre.

The Marina Baixa Regional Study Centre is an association of archaeologists, historians and other related investigators who have as their main objective to make the historical-cultural heritage of the different municipal areas which they represent public.

The proposal to create a Study Centre came about during the "Primeras Jornadas sobre el Patrimonio Arqueológico y Etnográfico de la Marina Baixa" (1st Conference on Archaeological and Ethnographic Heritage of the Marina Baixa Region), which was held in the conference room of the Department of Fine Arts of the University Miguel Hernández in December 2004.

This took place in response to the need to create a regional study centre to aid the conservation and diffusion of material and intangible (living) heritage of the Marina Baixa Region. This area is very much in need of such things as inventories, catalogues, investigations and publications, backed up by professionals in their fields, which will help to discover a heritage so rich that its almost unknown.
