Trekking routes

Orxeta is a town located on the right bank of the River Sella, halfway between the orchard and dry in a beautiful valley surrounded by gently sloping hills, open to the South on the reservoir Amadori far the town, with a area of about 25 km2 and an altitude of 177 m. above sea level, bounded by the towns of Sella, Finestrat, Villajoyosa, El Campello, and Busot Relleu.

Its surface is more than half the remaining unproductive and rainfed farming, except a small part about 90-Ha-gardening, but with a natural environment and cultural heritage a privileged, well connected and close to the coast and the nuclei population where tourism (Benidorm, Villajoyosa, Altea?).

The Green Route Project aims Orxeta within a policy focused on quality service, meeting one of the key demands of the visitor: the creation of a unique set of routes for pedestrians and cyclists, restricted to motorized traffic, where it can outdoor sports or simply enjoy the contact with nature during their leisure time.

Thanks to these facilities, drawn entirely on traditional paths and cattle, provided the opportunity to tour those beautiful natural settings and the municipality to know the most emblematic of cultural heritage, while recovering much of our historical memory.

As in other towns in the Marina District of downtown, this network has a remote origin, probably from medieval times when the differences of the Mediterranean climate in the Iberian Peninsula conditioned the seasonal movement of cattle from the mountains to the colder valleys warm, where frost was less virulent.

However, with the passage of time, many factors have made the migration of livestock and livestock itself in these lands, an unprofitable business, gradually becoming obsolete these roads.

The proposed signage, rehabilitation and approval of the routes will be completed in a progressive manner in the coming years, and currently available routes which are presented below.
