Orxeta Council’s “Departmento de Urbanismo” (Department of Town Planning) deals with the management of urban development in the municipal area. The following are its main responsibilities:
- To create and propose for approval the council’s urban development plans, as well as those developments that do not come under the General Plan of Urban Development.
- To carry out the approved Council’s development.
- To carry out necessary studies for the continuation of the approved plan.
- To manage the “Patrimonio Municipal del Suelo” (Register of Municipal Land Use) for the purpose of acquiring, possessing, claiming, administering, taxing and the expropriating of all types of properties.
- To control private building works or developments.
- To provide all the necessary means possible so that the public has the right to access all town planning information.
- To process, and if applicable, grant major or minor works licenses, within the limits set down by law.
- To process, and if applicable, penalise any town planning infringements, within the limits set down by law on town planning regulations.
- To process and resolve, if applicable, all cases concerning the conservation, rehabilitation and ruinous state of buildings.
- To provide information or pass judgement on town planning cases whose approval corresponds to other local areas.
- To provide information and issue plot division licenses.
- The processing of cases concerning the obtaining of 1st utilisation licenses and the licenses of 1st occupation and 2nd occupation.
- The issuing of town planning information and Development Guarantee Documents.
